More Cabinet Pics and CARPET!!!

This one is me. Very scary indeed. I don't remember what I was doing when I took this but it probably wasn't pleasant. So have fun with this pic.

This is a full shot of the cabinets all finished. It was dark outside and so the light bulb looks so bright.
CARPET AT LONG LAST!!! I just went over on my lunch break today to see it being installed. WOW it looks great. I am so excited.

Red Wall and Kitchen Cabinets and a Picnic!

One day we had a picnic in my dining room. Nothing fancy but kind of fun. Set the camera on auto and try not to break your neck getting back for the picture. HAHA Almost made it.
Charlie's Chicken always good for a picnic. Thanks, David
Here are our plates, mashed potatoes good. 30 chunks gone. (Well, almost)

This is the red wall in my bedroom. Wow! is all anybody says.
These are the cabinets. In boxes. In the living room.  There were there for about 3 days waiting on the installation. I was really excited to have them there and really wanted to open the boxes. But, I waited on the installer.

This is a sneak peek of the color. It is hard to get the right color with a flash at night. But this is close.
This one is a little better and pretty close to the real color.

New Roof and Paint

I don't want this to be like sensory overload, so,  I will just put up a couple of pics right now.  There are a lot to see I will try to get them up maybe this weekend.

To start a new roof you need the materials, this is the new shingles on the top.

Then, here is the finished product yes it looks the same but that is the way I wanted it. It is a whole lot cleaner. Bye bye, black stuff.

Here is a sample of the wall color I have chosen. Below is the Living/Dining/Hall/Kitchen color with the trim color. I know it is sideways just use your imagination.
Then there is the Guest Bedroom.

This is the office.  Alternating walls in two greens.  Looks really good. It is all done now just waiting on the trim.
This is my room.  Yes there is one wall that is red.  The other color is a light green khaki. That is as best as I can describe it.  The red wall looks great.

Ok my house has seen real progress lately. However, I have not been able to get to my pictures on the computer due to a huge glitch. So, hopefully I will be able to get to them soon.

So far, almost all the wall paint is on the wall(that's a good place for it isn't it). My bedroom has taken up the most time and when you see the pics you will know why : ).  I am still crawling around trying to paint the baseboard trim. I want to be done with that this week. The bead board and trim for the little bath is almost up.  And a new front door is in the works.

The kitchen cabinets are being delivered today.  I am really excited for this to happen but I am also nervous that it will be what I wanted.  The kitchen will not be complete with the cabinets I will still need countertops and flooring. How funny! I haven't even picked them out yet! Well,  you know it is a little overwhelming to do it all at once.

Later.

Ceiling, Primer & Mailbox

OK well sorry it has been forever since I last posted but it has been busy.

So here goes.... Well to start off the ceiling it taped, mudded (that I did) and sanded (thanks to my brother, David).

The ladders were my set up. I could have used some stilts or longers legs but this had to do.
Finally, some paint on the walls. If it is only primer it still looks good to see something else on the wall. Now everything is primered (is that a word? oh well). Just need to pick wall paint color.

Now my mailbox has my name on it. I bought the letters a long time ago, but just now am getting them on the mailbox.

Weird Beam and Sheetrocking the Ceiling

There was this wooden beam going across the Living Room and Dining Room. Not knowing why it was there and not knowing if I wanted to keep it there, my dad and I tore it down off the ceiling. But as you can see we found a huge crack in the ceiling. We figured out that it happended when they were building the house. It is not from settling. So great now what do we do. Well, never fear my dad has a plan. Here is some pics of the continental divide.
Here is the way it looks before the sheetrock went up. Wood to fill in space.
Two guys on ladders, one guy on the ground. From left to right these players are John (brother), Dad, David (brother). I don't remember the conversation but something was being mulled over. The breakfast of champions, John is on a Clementine orange kick. And for some reason expensive water.Drywall screws, CHECK!Deadman, UP!Drill, CHECK!

Almost Done. Only two panels to go. Measuring for a tight fit.DONE and resting after a job well done. Believe it or not I did hardly anything on this project. But my work has just begun. Because I am the one who spread the tape and mud over my head not the easiest thing I have ever done. Pics are to come.
