2012 Year At A Glance!

A year can go by so fast you barely have time to react. That was 2012 and it's already April 2013! How can it go by so fast. I want to slow it down just a little. But not today because we are going through the year very fast. Here are a couple of photos from Christmas 2011 just to start things off.

January 2012
I used some Christmas money to purchase new curtains for my bedroom the one with the red wall. They are green with big circles in lighter green and brown.

A new clock for my kitchen wall.

In March, my brother got married. Here is a shot I took for their engagement photos.

April brought Flat Stanley. He is a curious little fellow that wants to see all around the area where you live. Mr. Stanley came to visit from Detroit, MI and I took him to see things like the Blue Whale on Route 66, The Praying Hands at ORU, The Golden Driller in Tulsa and the Will Rogers Museum in Claremore. We had a good time but I think he was ready to get back home.

For Mother's Day, in May I hosted a dinner after church for my family. We finished it off with some Pink Lemonade Pie. Happy Mother's Day!

I also made another purchase for the house. A beautiful buffet. It is wonderfully handmade from 80 to 100 years ago! Thank you Craigslist. I goes perfectly with my radio cabinet that houses my DVR and cable boxes.

Father's Day was in June and again I made a great dinner after church. The centerpieces were all things that my dad uses like Duct tape, gloves, tape measures, shop rags, shoe polish, combs and his favorite candy bar ZERO. All things I found at the dollar store. I also added pictures all the the people present with their dads. Everyone enjoyed looking at the pictures of dads that have gone on to Glory. It was good to remember.

The top picture is of my dad, me and my little brother, John. The bottom is of my dad and my littlest brother, David. Happy Father's Day!

July, Independence Day! A cookout, family & friends, and fireworks! Also, John and Dad's birthday's in July.

The end of summer and Fall was exciting. I went to many flea markets and antique shows and stores. Here are a couple of finds. Many more Christmas items were added to my growing collection.

In October, I went to Ft. Smith to an antique show. We ate at a Boomerang Diner that was inside an old train car. It was really cool on the inside. The outside had a little park with a carousel and ferris wheel.

December 2012, Christmas! I absolutely love Christmas time. The birth of Jesus! I got some new decorations this year and really went overboard. I will try and tone it down this Christmas. I have so many children's Christmas books that I had to get creative to display them all. So, I thought I would buy a ladder. I looked all over finally I found one at an antique store and it was already painted red! It was a sign, wait it's a ladder. Ha. You can see it here behind the tree.

It was a lucky day when I found these glasses in their original box. They are great. I love that they fit in my glass cart (pictured above).

The little precious angels were my Grandmother's. She always put them out every year. I always loved them and I am glad to have them now. Santa was a flea market find. He even lights up! Merry Christmas!

For Christmas my friend bought me this shelf for my kitchen. I had been looking for one and we found this one at an antique store. I usually don't buy already painted things but it was green and I didn't mind, green is my favorite. I have had fun adding things to the wall. The old nutmeg spice can on the top of the stack is my mother's that she got as a wedding gift almost 43 years ago. Some of the other things came from my Grandmothers. The blue pitcher the tin measuring cups are Mom's Mother's and the linen and the salt shaker with the green lid and pepper with the red lid and a cookbook are Dad's Mother's. I love vintage things. Oh, and the Fiesta mugs on the top are mine. I have 10 place settings in those colors. I love Fiestaware.

And a Happy New Year!
